November Meeting

Our November Montly meeting will be held this coming Tuesday, November 22nd at Central United Church. Ingrid deMartines will be our speaker discussing the topic of ‘Women in Farming’.

We are continuing with our “Food Donations” advocacy issue for our local schools. This month we will be helping C.O.P.E. Stratford who would be most appeciative of the following items: “Breakfast for Learning”cards from Zehrs so that the school can purchase items; BIODEGRADABLE plates, cups and cutlery (school only has 2 sinks rather than the 3 required by Health department if dishes are washed); vinegar for disinfecting; small cans of fruit (low sugar), individual cereal pacs (low sugar), granola bars, peanut butter, small juice boxes, dried soups (low sodium if possible), oranges, etc.

October Meeting

Our October monthly meeting will take place this coming Tuesday, October 25th at 7:30pm at Central United Church. We look forward to hearing from Meg Westly on her topic of Dying with Dignity.

Our Advocacy Group will also be accepting donations for our local advocacy issue, which is helping area high schools with their “School-Based Food Security Programs”. Items such as protein bars, juice boxes (no sugar), apples and oranges will be gratefully accepted.

On September 27th, we were pleased to award our Mature Student Scholarship Awards to Kalysha Feltz and Jaclyn Poulsen, both from Conestoga College. Congratulations girls!

CFUW September Meet and Greet

Our new season is about to begin! As usual, we are pleased to kick off our new year with our annual ‘Meet and Greet’ – a fabulous way to meet up with old friends and also a great way to see if our club is for you. This meeting is specifically designed to welcome potential new members and we welcome any woman to come out and join our meeting. Our guest speaker is Kari Kokko and our newsletter (in the post below) gives some great extra info on the Meet and Greet evening as well as the year ahead.

Our ‘Meet and Greet’ will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:30pm at Romeo Court (40 Long Drive) in Stratford.

CFUW Scholarships

A large part of our club is based on providing education opportunities to young females. Tonight, we are pleased to give out three scholarships to deserved young women at St. Michael Catholic Secondary School here in Stratford.

Congratulations goes to Katie Waugh on receiving the Core French award, Leigha McCarroll on receiving the French Immersion award and Rachel Henderson on receiving the Science award. Well done girls!
